MEET CHEF EEMY
I started with a complicated recipe- biryani, which I now call Baeriyani because biryani is BAE 😂 but somehow I nailed it. It was perfect - even my family was quite impressed. They don't usually like chicken biryani and prefer it to be with meat. Although this recipe was a hit, I decided to experiment every day after that. I started posting on my personal Instagram account, and then a few days later, I decided to make a public account where I would post recipes and videos. It started off just for fun, but then I quickly gained followers. I experimented with a new recipe every day, which is how my journey started. For 2 years, I continued to post, but I wasn't sure this was still the path I would follow.
I was initially enrolled in a hairdressing school in London and was waiting for the school to reopen in person. Two years later, the school finally reached out and said they were starting again, and I was excited to return. But when the time got closer, I decided against it and decided to withdraw my enrollment. I wanted to pursue the culinary arts instead.
So, in 2022, I embarked on a flavourful adventure and enrolled at the International Center of Culinary Arts in Dubai. Armed with my Diploma in Hospitality - Commercial Cookery, I've chopped, filleted, and sautéed my way through the world of professional kitchens, all in the pursuit of culinary excellence.
My time at culinary school wasn't just about learning recipes but also uncovering the science behind the flavors. I delved into the mysteries of onion chopping (with minimal tears, I might add), mastered the art of fish filleting, and even faced off against a lobster or two. But it wasn't all smooth sailing—those cleanup sessions were no joke! Mountains of dishes awaited us after each lesson, but hey, it's all part of the culinary journey, right?
Beyond the kitchen, culinary school taught me valuable life skills like teamwork, time management, and patience (especially when dealing with tricky ingredients and people). I started as a shy student, always asking others what to do, but I left a more confident and assertive chef, ready to take on any culinary challenge that came my way.
